Jamaican Rugby League Results & Tables

Jamaican Rugby League actually has a long history. Players with Jamaican heritage have played in the United Kingdom for many, many years. However it wasn’t till 2003 that an Australian, Dane Campbell went over to Jamaica and helped set up the Jamaican Rugby League Association (JARLA).  in 2009 Romeo Monteith was announced as the Chairman of JARLA and too date hold the position and continues to drive the sport forward. Despite Jamaica being such a small country the sport has started to gain some recognition there with big name sponsors. After several touring teams from Europe cam over the Jamaican Nomads, as they are known, played their first full international against the USA Tomahawks in 2009. They then participated in the Atlantic Cup in 2010 where they scored a win over the Canadians and only barely lost to the Americans once again. 2011 sees the Jamaicans in the World Cup Qualifiers and probably are the favourites to win after the split in the USA. They play Canada as a warm up in July and then USA and South Africa in the Qualifiers. Dane continues his involvement by setting up the first ever professional Rugby league team called the Jamaican Hurricanes and along with that an Academy for high school students to nurture their talent in the sport.
