Match 1. Mico University College 72 def. University of Technology 4

Round 3 of the Intercollegiate Rugby League Championship began on Thursday February 6 with defending champions Mico going on a rampage against UWI make it three wins in as many matches. The Miconians were led by Fabion Turner, Tarj Pecco and Antonio Baker with three tries apiece. Rico Mathews mustered UWI’s lone try.

Match 2. GC Foster College 32 def. Excelsior Community College 22

Veteran prop forward Othniel Holness bullied his way to three tries to ensure there would be no blushes against an improving Excelsior outfit. Excelsior seemed poised to pull off the upset but faded over the final 10 minutes.

The return of national player Jakeba Grant from injury saw UTech secure their first win of what has been a difficult campaign. Grant assisted in all of UTech’s scoring plays that saw Nathan Campbell, Klifton Anderson and Jervel Pendle score 2 tries each.

The Competition continues on Thursday Feb.13, when UWI (2-1) hosts GC Foster (3-0) at 4pm and then on Saturday February 15, when Exed (0-3) hosts UTech (1-2) at 2pm and Mico (3-0) faces Portmore Community College (0-3) at 4pm.
