This was the first of 3 games for the Royal Marines against a big Slayers side. The Marines were keen to put into practise the weeks of training they had done previous to this encounter.
The game started evenly as the DC team put up a strong effort. Big hits were seen in abundance from the sidelines as these two nations clashed.
It was the mighty Marines who drew first blood with a well placed kick over the Slayers defence for Richard Cadywould to score his first of 3 tries.
Marines centre Richie McGlade also kept the opposition on the back foot after breaking their defensive line on a number of occasions. This included a heroic burst of pace running nearly ¾ of the pitch to put it down under the posts adding to the Royals now increasing lead.
Man of the Match went to Greig Mills whose effort and determination never faltered throughout this epic encounter helping make sure the Royal Marines were left with a great victory at the final whistle.
Final Score was 54-16. Overall a well deserved win for the Marines as they look forward to their next match.
