From Hurricanes RL media

Following on from last weeks partnership announcement between the Hurricanes Academy and GC Foster College comes the announcement of Steven Birchall committing to the Hurricanes Academy as Gold Partner for the 2011/12 season.

Birchall, a league administrator and international enthusiast who is based in Australia has been an influential supporter of the game in Jamaica since it’s inception in 2004 and has assisted in many capacities over this time. His decision to commit to the Academy is a further sign of the significant progression of the Hurricanes program which is aimed at players aged 14-18 who are still attending High School.

By committing as a Gold Partner, Birchall will be aiding in further promotion and development of the overall Academy program, which will now include development clinics into new Parishes.

Birchall commented:

“As a keen follower of Rugby League in Jamaica since its inception, I didn’t think twice about getting behind the Hurricanes Academy program after Dane explained it to me”.

“To have the opportunity to not only to help improve the standard of Rugby League within the country, but to also ensure that the academy participants received an education and the other support they need to become well rounded members of their local communities made it such a logical step, and I would personally encourage any other Rugby League fans who are in a position to support this program to either get in contact with Dane or Roy”.

With Birchall confirming Gold Partner status and Rugby League International Scores committing to Bronze Partner and all 20 Player Partner packages being taken out, it just leaves the Silver Partner as the only outstanding package available to the general public for the 2011/12 Hurricanes Academy program. This is an exceptional response to the Academy program and is testament to the wonderful advantages this program can provide to young Jamaican rugby league players. If any company or individual is interested in taking out the Silver Partner package for $1,000 (payment plan available) please contact by August 8th, as this is the date that all packages for the 2011/12 Academy will close.
