The Fiji National Rugby League  Representative program kicks off this Saturday at the Corpus Christi ground when a selection representing the East will do battle against the Western selection.

The two teams have been picked after the players performance has been monitored on a weekly basis during the rounds of the Vodafone Cup.

In a first for the FNRL the day will also feature East and West teams in the Under Sixteen and Eighteen grades.

Fiji National Rugby League, General Manager Stephen Mclellan stated that there will be plenty to play for on Saturday as in the Under Sixteen game players will be striving to be added to the FNRL Development Squad and be selected for the game against Matraville Sports High in October.

In the Under Eighteen game players will be considered for inclusion into the FNRL Academy Squad and the upcoming games against the New South Wales Country Academy and the South West Sydney Academy which will be played as the Tagitupou Tanoa Challenge on 23rd September.

In the senior game players will be out to impress as from this game the Vodafone Fiji Residents squad will be selected to prepare for the games against Newcastle, New Zealand Fijians and Australian Fijians in the Battle of the Bati to be held in October.

Mclellan also stated that they expect to witness quality games on Saturday as there has been a most pleasing improvement in standard throughout the Vodafone Cup and the selected players have now been given the opportunity to showcase their skills and impress the Fiji National Rugby League selectors.
