The 28th May 2011, saw the inaugural USA Rugby league 9s played in Conshohocken, Philadelphia USA. 12 teams played through the day including a touring New Zealand Police team. After 18 gruelling round games and play offs, it was the Police and Last years AMNRL finalists New haven in the final. The Police put on a Rugby league clinic and ran out eventual winners 24-00 over the warriors. So enjoy the game.
I think it’s great the USARL were able to host such a good event in their first season as a competition. The crowd may have been small but it is a good start and appears to have been well received by all teams and players who have all had nothing but positive things to say about the event.
The crowd was bigger than what they had expected. They budgeted for 100 and got 120.
It was on memorial weekend too, so amny people would have not been in Philly.
Yes, Memorial Day weekend is a big deal here in the states. And in Philly, everyone usually heads out for vacation.
The standard of play was good though, and the Fencibles represented as was expected. Good to work with you again Druzik.
Oh hey Marve!
