Sponsorship for the South African Rhinos - England Tour 2008.

Dear Sir/Madam,

South African Rugby League (SARL) is celebrating its 21st birthday in the 2007/2008 season and to complete our 21st celebrations we have accepted an invitation from the British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) better known in the Rugby League world as the British Amateur Rugby League Lions to tour England between 2nd. October and 18th October 2008.

The tour will comprise of four (4) matches – against the Rugby League playing Counties in Northern England namely Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cumbria with the final match the test match against The British Amateur Rugby League Lions.

The tour programme will include guest attendance of the British Premier Cup Rugby League final in Manchester – something that most of our South African Rugby League Players only read and can dream about.

For South African Rugby players who never had the opportunity to represent their country at International Rugby  level, whether it is Rugby League or Rugby Union  this is an alternative  opportunity to be donned with the Green and Gold jersey.

It is indeed an opportunity of a life time for those players and officials that will represent South Africa on this first tour since 1997 to England when the South African Rhinos 16 year group under the Captaincy of Gary Botha (Ex Blue Bulls and Springboks) played London in the historical “First Ever “match at the old Wembley Stadium - the recorded won will long be treasured in the annals of South African Rugby League.

We, South African Rugby League will ensure that this opportunity will not go to waste as this tour will contribute to the well known fact that sport is a means to bring people together in difficult circumstances.

Rugby League is a relatively unknown but popular sport in South Africa and we have introduced this popular game of Rugby to most of the areas that could be reached by an amateur sport organisation.

The South African National side –The Rhinos will be selected from our Regional Provincial sides currently playing in the Tom van Vollenhoven Cup competition namely:

·       Ekurhuleni Eastern Eagles(East Rand)

·       Mpumalanga Panthers(Mpumalanga)

·       Northern Gauteng Bulls(Tswane Metropole)

·       West Coast Raiders(Cape West Coast)

·       Western Warthogs(North West Province)

·       Central  Manes (Johannesburg Metropole)

These Regional Provinces are all registered with South African Rugby League (SARL), the controlling body of Rugby League in South Africa.

South Africa is a full member of the Rugby League International Federation with their Head Quarters in Sydney, Australia.

Players from these Regional Provinces will be selected to represent South Africa, The Rhinos when the National trials take place in July /August 2008.

The touring party will consist of the Following:
